A description of the types of shooting sports

Olympic guns

In the official documents of the ISSF and the protocols results of the international competition uses a short version of the exercise, including shooting distance, weapon and number of shots (example: “50 m rifle Arbitrary. 3х40 shots”). For each exercise introduced an abbreviation for two letters which denote the type of weapon (for example, MV — small-caliber rifle; PP — air gun, etc.), and the numbers — the sequence number of this exercise at the national sports classification in shooting.

VP-6 (AR60) — air rifle. Distance 10 m Target No. 8. 60 shots standing. Time 1 hour and 45 minutes Before performing the test shots are allowed an unlimited number of trial.

Shooting

Performances of athletes-shooters are out of rifles and pistols (pneumatic, small-caliber and large-caliber).

Every year in shooting competitions of various level-from regional to World Championships and Europe. Currently, the rules of the International shooting sport Federation (ISSF) world shooting there are 15 men’s and 7 women’s exercises included in the program of international competitions. 6 male and 4 female exercise from the list included into the Olympic program.

With the development of world shooting sports program Championships were extended due to the introduction of new exercises and continuously growing number of participants. The first world championship was significantly different from the programs shooting competition held in the year before the first Olympic games. If the Games of 1896 were performed five exercises (two in the rifle and three pistol) in the world Championships of 1897 had only one exercise and up to 1900 participants competed only in shooting rifles. In 1900the program was supplemented by another discipline — the firing of guns, and since 1949 the international Union of shooting sports officially entered into the program of their leagues shooting at a moving target (and Skeet shooting).

By 1994 the program of the world Championships have stabilized overall, but continued to thicken within the individual disciplines. For example, in 2002 was introduced the firing of heavy rifles to 300 meters for women. In the same year the women’s program was complemented with new exercise — a rifle shooting at a moving target. In 2002 at the world Championships in Lahti participants of competitions on bullet shooting was performed in a total of 43 exercises (men — 15, women — 9, boy — 12 and girl — 7). Been played 86 sets personal and team awards.

Trap shooting

Trap shooting — shooting at special flying targets known as clay pigeons. Shooting is conducted with shotguns, but not air rifles. Maximum gauge shotgun for shooting sporting targets is a 12-gauge.

Firing on sports targets can engage people of any age and gender. Thus, in recent years, there has been a growing participation of women and children, which makes shooting sports target family sport.

Skeet (Skeet) and trap (movable stand) became a classic of bench exercises to the end of the 1920-ies, when they began hosting regular world Championships. In 1952, Skeet was again included in the Olympic program — the firing on trench stand, in 1968 have been added — the shooting on a round stand. In 1962, participating in world Championships, women began. But only in 1996 in the Olympic program included women’s exercise — firing on trench stand.

Sporting

Sporting is a kind of bench shooting that combines virtually all sporting and hunting disciplines — shooting at flying through the air and moving on land targets imitating her various trajectories of flying birds and running animals in the conditions of natural terrain features.

Shooting

Rifle shooting

At the world Championships 1897, 1898 and 1899, the parties perform only one exercises — the arbitrary firing of large-caliber rifle at 300 meters in three positions: prone, kneeling and standing (3х40 shots).

In 1897 a target with a diameter of 100 cm with Apple for aiming, equal to 60 cm, was divided into five dimensions of rings (from “one to five”). Next year the target with the same dimensions was divided into ten dimensional rings (from “one” to “ten”) and since then it has not undergone any changes. Personal and team championship in the activity of PV-6 until 1994, was played as on the total amount of points (3х40 shots) and individual provisions (with the exception of the period from 1949 to 1966, when in certain positions the team competition was not conducted). In 1982stop playing the championship in the prone position, but were instead conducted individual and team competitions in the new exercise — 60 shots prone from any large caliber rifle at 300 meters (PW-9).

In 1911, the program of the world Championships was introduced shooting at 300 m. a large-caliber rifle used in the army in positions prone, kneeling and standing. In this championship, each performed for 30 shots, but in 1912 the number of shots in the provisions has been reduced to 20. From 1911 to 1962 this exercise (AB-5) were made of rifles currently in service with the army of the country that hosted the world Championships, but in 1966 and 1970, participants could use a military rifle of any system. Since 1974 AB exercise-perform 5 of the standard large-caliber rifle. Until 1947the title of world champion in the exercise AB-5 played as on the total amount of points, and in separate provisions; but the team competition began only in 1935 (and only on the total points of the three positions).

The first attempt to include in the program of the world Championships shooting small caliber rifles at 50 meters was undertaken in 1924. Then held competitions for women, which carried out 20 rounds standing at a target with a diameter of 50 cm, divided into 10 dimensions of rings (diameter of the black Apple is 20 cm), and the ranking was determined first by the number of shots into the target, then the number of holes in the black Apple of a target and then “tens”, “nines”, etc. Such competitions are spent only once, and until 1958, women in the world Championships no longer involved.

Next time shooting from any small-bore rifle 50 m included in the program of the world championship of 1929. Exercise consisted of 40 shots prone 40 standing, but championship was played only in certain positions. In 1930, the exercise complements 40 shots kneeling, but until 1937, the championship was still determined in separate provisions. To determine the winners in this exercise (MV-6) total points (individual provisions) began in 1937, the Team championship in the amount of three positions has been played since 1949..Both personal and team competition in certain positions prone, kneeling and standing was held from 1930 to 1958 (from 1962 to 1990, only the provisions of the kneeling and standing). Since 1994 in exercise MV-6 winners in personal and command superiority is determined only by the total points of the three provisions.

From 1929 to 1958 for firing small-caliber rifles at 50 meters used a target with a diameter of 250 mm, with a black Apple 120 mm and a diameter of “dozens” equal to 20 mm. In 1958, the target was reduced and the diameter of the “dozens” was equal to 12.4 mm. Soon the results of the shooting are brought to the ultimate, in connection with which in 1989 introduced a new target with the ASEAN countries, equal to 10.4 mm.

In 1947, the first postwar world championship introduced a new exercise — 60 shots prone from any small-caliber rifle (30 shots at 50 meters and 30 shots at 100). This exercise was called the “English match”. In 1962, “English match” replaced with exercise MV-9 (60 shots lying 50 m).

At the world Championships in 1966, 1970 and 1974, in addition to the exercise of MV-6 and MV-9 men competed in shooting from a standard small-bore rifle three positions (3×20 shots). In the future, this exercise was eliminated from the men’s program.

Competitions women’s world Championships began in 1958, when they introduced two exercises: “English match” and shooting in three positions of an arbitrary small-bore rifle (3х30 shots). Since 1966 arbitrary small caliber rifle in the women’s exercises have replaced the standard. At the same time, the shooting of the three women have carried 3х30 and 3×20 shots, i.e. was introduced in exercise MV-5. Since 1998, the exercise MV-9 and MV-5 women began to run from the so-called sporting rifles, which is actually arbitrary.

Shooting with air rifles at 10 meters men first performed in 1966 and the women at the next world Cup, in 1970. Before 1982, both men and women performed an exercise that consisted of 40 rounds, and since 1982 the number of shots for men was increased to sixty and has appeared in exercise VP-6. Until 1989, shooting from an air rifle was used the target from “ten”, the diameter of which was equal to 1.0 mm. In 1989, the target was reduced and the diameter of the “dozens” was equal to 0.5 mm, but despite this, the results of the shooting continued to grow and in 2000was an absolute world record in the exercise of VP-6 (600 points), and in 2002 and in exercises EP-4 (400 points).

In 2002, women first fought for the medals of world Champions in shooting any large caliber rifle at 300 meters, performing two exercises: AB-5 (3×20 shots) and PW-9 (60 shots prone).

Shooting a gun

To 1900. at the world Championships performed the firing of large-caliber rifles. In 1900 the program of the Championships was first introduced pistol shooting at 50 m. Participants performed 60 shots at a target with a diameter of 500 mm, divided into ten dimensional rings. From 1900 to 1903 for this exercise used a six-shot large-caliber revolver, which from 1904 had been replaced by small-caliber single-shot gun random sample, i.e. there is a modern exercise MP-6.It should be noted that the target for exercise MP-6 in our time is no different from the one used in 1900.

The firing of a semiautomatic small-caliber pistol 25 m for the group of emerging targets at the world Championships for the first time performed in 1935 In the entire history of shooting sports, no exercise, did not undergo such changes as this, which gradually turned to modern exercise MP-8. In 1935 were shooting at six targets appearing. The target height of 163 cm was a black silhouette of a figure walking person (bounding areas on the target). The exercise consisted of three series of 6 shots; each series was performed for 8 seconds. The championship was determined by the number of hits. Test shots were not supposed to, but any delays and misfires counted as a miss.

In the championship of 1937, performed on the same target. But the content of the exercises has changed and it is performed three series: one 8 seconds, one for 6 and one for 4 seconds. The championship was determined according to the least number of penalty points which were estimated by the mistakes.

For the world Cup in 1939, the targets and content of the exercise changed again. As before, shots were fired at six silhouettes, but the human figure was depicted in a simplistic way. The championship was determined by the number of hits in the target.

On the first post-war championship in 1947 were shooting at five targets with oval tail areas (the height of the “dozens” was equal to 150 mm, width 100 mm). As currently, the exercise was divided into two halves, each of which were carried out two series of 8 seconds, two in 6 and two in 4 seconds. The championship was determined by the number of hits, and the dimensions of the zone used in order to identify the advantage of an equal number of hits.

Since 1958, the championship is not determined by the number of hits and the amount of points in the exercise. In the future, the configuration and size of the target appears to have changed several times. At the world Championships of 1986 were shooting at a rectangular target with height 75 and width 45 cm with oval tail areas from “ten” to “six”. Starting from the tournament in 1990 introduced a target with a diameter of 500 mm with five overall areas (from “ten” to “five”), located on a white square blank. The diameter of the “dozens” of the target is 100 mm

In 1949, the program of the Championships was complemented by exercise, RP-5 shooting from large-caliber revolver or pistol Central battle at 25m (30 rounds at a stationary target and 30 to appear).

World Cup 1962 for the first time women competed in the pistol shooting, which was later excluded from the program of the women’s competition.

Shooting air pistols at 10 meters introduced in the program of the world Championships since 1970, when men and women performed an exercise of 40 shots (PP-2). Until 1989, for exercise PP-2 and PP-3 used the target with the ASEAN countries, equal to 12 mm. In 1989 introduced a reduced target, the diameter of the “dozens” which is 11.5 mm.

Since 1970, participants of the world Championships began the exercise of MP-10 shooting from a standard small-caliber gun at the appearing target (4 series in 150 seconds, 4 series of 20 and 4 series in 10 seconds — all the series of 5 shots). Women performed this exercise only once — in 1970.

Shooting at a moving target

The world Championships in shooting a moving target began with 1929, shots were fired at 100 meters from any rifle at a target “running deer”. Performed two exercises: 50 single and 25 double shots. Until 1949 the title of world champion in these exercises usually played out simultaneously with the world Championships UIT, but under the control and according to the rules of the International Federation of shooting sports and hunting weapons (FITASC). Officially the program of the world Championships UIT shooting at a moving target and trap shooting was included only in 1949Target “running deer” had five concentric marker rings with a diameter of the five 150 mm.

In 1966, shooting a large-caliber rifle at a target “running deer” was replaced by the firing of small-bore rifle 50 metres at a target “running deer”; this target also had five rings overall, but not concentric but oval. Shooting at a running deer was carried out 40 rounds (20 slow runs and 20 targets fast).

Championship 1967 shots were fired at a new target “running boar”, which had five concentric marker rings, and “five” had a diameter of 50 mm. From 1969 to the present time, the target is divided into 10 dimensional rings with “ten” with a diameter of 60 mm.

Starting from the tournament in 1967 on the rifles for shooting at moving targets allowed to use optical sights.

By 1970 in addition to exercises MV-11 (20 + 20 shots) was introduced in exercise MV-11a, in which 20 slow and 20 fast runs of the target are executed in sequence, not known in advance arrow. With 1970 instead of exercise MV-11 world Championships began to exercise MV-12 (30 + 30 shots).

Shooting at a moving target 10 meters air rifle entered into the program of the world Championships in 1981. Originally (before 1989) males performed an exercise of VP-11 (20 + 20 shots) at a target, which showed a running wild boar, reduced in proportion to the distance to the target compared with a target of 50 m. the target for air rifle shooting diameter “ten” was initially equal to 6 mm, but then reduced to 5.5 mm. In 1989, the exercise of VP-11 is replaced by the exercise of VP-12 30 slow and 30 fast runs. Simultaneously, it introduced a new target with a black Apple for aiming and located right and left of him two targets, the diameter of the “dozens” which is equal to 5.5 mm. When run right-to-left shots are fired at the left target, and when you run in the opposite direction — to the right. In 1994 the program of the Championships was supplemented by the exercise of VP-11a, which in its content is similar to exercise MV-11a, but is performed from an air rifle.

In the women’s program of the world championship the rifle shooting at a moving target was introduced in 1994, when women and girls carried out in the individual championship the exercise of VP-11. At the next world Cup played, both personal and team championship, and in 2002 women and girls have already carried out two exercises — VP-11 and VP-11a.

Trap shooting

Shooting sports targets is divided into three main groups: trench stand, Skeet and double trap.

Trench stand (Trap)

Exercise arrows perform, standing on one of the line of fire, in the late nineteenth century received the name “trench-bench”, and abroad — “the ladder”, from the English trap — hunting. In this exercise, targets flying in different directions, and shooting them requires a good reaction and high speed.

Skeet (skeet)

The name of the American Davis from Andover — related occurrence in the mid-1920s. the round stand or “skit” (the word has Scandinavian roots), where the targets fly at a constant trajectories, and athletes, going in a circle from one small place to another, firing at different angles.

Targets are served singly or in doublets of two machines, located at a distance of about 40 meters from each other at opposite ends of a semicircular arc, which is seven rifle. Target run with specified trajectories and speed.

In this discipline is used combination with the flow of single and double targets, totaling 25 targets in the series. Targets are launched from high and low boxes with a fixed trajectory and speed. Shooting shooting is performed with seven seats arranged in a semicircular arc. Struck target counts as one point, maximum score is 25.

Double trap — simultaneous firing of paired targets (a doublet)

Sporting

Double shooting (brace — sporting)

This is one of the sports-hunting shooting, grouped under the General term “sporting” with a number of features of organization, in which shooting is on the doublets are equally manufactured for one small space. Every small place is usually located at a distance from each other. In a series it is permissible to use a single target to ensure multiplicity. Two single target for a series of 50 shots, 4 single target for a series of 100 shots and 6 singles for a series of 50 shots.

Compact sporting

This is one of the types of sporting and hunting shooting with common term — sporting, characterized in that the shooting of a series of 25 targets is made in limited spaces, or sites of round and trench stands or on the grounds of size close to them. The maximum range of target lesions is not more than 35 m.

Sporting (large)

In international practice, is called in one word — sporting. In addition, the term “sporting” is used as a unifying for all types of hunting and sporting shooting. This type of sporting and hunting shooting compared to the compact sporting and other much more complex organization requires more propellant technology, is conducted on extensive areas of countryside.

Sporting (large) is the most complicated by the diversity of the trajectories of targets, a maximum of long range shooting, you’ll be hard requirements to the ready arrow. To complicate elements can be attributed to the fact that the shooter usually cannot see the target at start up her machine, and then the referee duplicates the arrow command (a whistle, a wave of the hand, on the radio, etc.), as part of cars can be serviced loader — downing behind natural or artificial cover.

Sporting (large) arrows imposes increased requirements to have the necessary equipment, to carry him through the terrain (as hunting), be able to allocate your strength, because to shoot a series of 25 targets will have to travel on a route from one shooting platform to another, and thus to make a 4 — 5 starts shooting. A series of 25 targets is usually more than 1 hour at a time (with transitions).

Russian sporting

One of the disciplines of sporting, in which at each shooting stand to the target (plate) simulates the flight of a particular type of game (duck, goose, grouse, woodcock, marsh fowl, pheasant, partridge, hare, grouse, etc.). This provides the most common hunting pair flying targets or simultaneous departures in the same direction or departures from closely spaced machines.

The program of competitions — 100, 150, 200 targets. Shooting with approach (a hunting trail) — at least 5 different flight paths of birds, the minimum number of machines — 10 PCs. Distance trails — up to 30 meters shooting Distance is divided into 10 equal sectors. The target is supplied during without team arrow during his movement at random in each sector on the individual program, unknown to the athlete. The program is determined by lottery.

Linear shooting

Installed at the venue only throwing machine placed on the design width of about 2.5 m and a height of the front of 0,91 m. Five shooting positions at a distance of 2.75 m from each other arc remote from the body of the machine is 14.5 m. the Target (standard size and is usually black or bright orange color depending on the background) have a fixed speed, and elevation, but can move from side to side at a maximum of 22.5 degrees in any direction from a straight line. In calm weather they have to cover a distance of 48 — 50 meters. Sighting the target are configured to pass through a Hoop with a diameter of 0.91 m located at a height of 2.7 m and a distance of 9 m along the axis.

Propellers

Hellice in French means “helicopter”, and the target is a plastic helicopter with two wings, the Central part of the body — insert able part white. The goal of shooting is to hit the target with enough force that the Central part of the slab fell within the fence.

The site is very similar to traditional platform of discipline “Live pigeons”, it is equipped with five cars to run targets arranged in an arc at a distance of 4.5 m and facing toward the athlete who is on the track length 7 m. the Nearest point of the driveway is at a distance of 21 m from the throwing machines, and the shooter moves back further to complicate the shooting. A fence with a height of 60 cm is set at 21 m behind the line throwing machines.
