Two trunks are on all shooting life!

In Russia there were not always only fisticuffs between collective farmers and socialist competitions. At the beginning of the 20th century so-called “automotive firing” was popular in Russia. The people shot spontaneously, but in 1912 Russia sent national team for participation in the Olympic Games in Stockholm. Permanent military campaigns (The Russian-Japanese war, and then and World War I) interfered with development of sport. And after Great October everything almost faded. Competitions of athletes were held irregularly, by muffled rules. The decent stand appeared in Moscow only in 1927, in Ostankino. It represented a trench with throwing machines. After that the sport sharply went uphill. One by one there were stands in Leningrad and the capitals of sister republics. Having a little trained, in 1934 held the first USSR championship. They say, was abruptly. The road to success was far. Only in the mid-fifties the Soviet athletes showed the first decent result in the European championship: two gold medals. In the World Cup in 1958 ours managed to win gold at the round stand, and then and at the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968. It is possible to tell that the Soviet school of sports firing made significant progress as, for example, gymnastics or figure skating.

What the general between the stand and firing?

So the inquisitive reader will ask. Thank him for this question. Everyone knows that stands happen different. Happen at an exhibition, happen political information, happen even in car services. What many-sided piece this stand! Yes, imagine, in firing there is a concept “stand” too.
The stand is, actually, the place where people shoot, and plates met at special throwing machines. Shooting at the stand, you are in the specially allotted and equipped for sports firing place. That is, it is purely theoretically possible to leave to the open country, to throw up a double-barreled gun to a shoulder yes to discharge it into the sky a doublet. But it will not be bench firing. If at the same time you ask the companion to leave UFOs into the sky, then it will already be special adaptation — the live throwing machine, and all together — the improvised stand. But with the Olympic bench firing will have nothing in common. Not for nothing devices for a pull the targets were improved within kind hundred years. But it is not necessary to be upset, buy machines it is not necessary. We traveled over all two decent places where it is possible to practise this entertaining art.
Bench firing as the website Shooting-UA reports, is firing at the special flying targets known under the name “clay pigeons”. It is fired from the smooth-bore, but not pneumatic gun. The maximum caliber of the gun for firing at sports targets is the 12th caliber. Actually targets it is more similar to orange plates, than to pigeons, and they are made of graphite that allows not to collect splinters after each series of shots, and to allow them “be dissolved” quietly under the influence of the environment. Efforts of cleaners at the stand are concentrated on sweeping of shot sleeves in huge multi-colored heaps. Looks impressively therefore against the background of bright cones like to be photographed.

The shooting and bench sport – is a firing from the smooth-bore gun in fraction on the fast-moving purposes. It originates from the remote past when the nobility had a good time firing at the flying purpose. In the Middle Ages as targets live birds, most often pigeons who were thrown out because of shelters were applied. Is later than their steel to put in the holes covered with a cap which was pulled down by a rope and a pigeon had an opportunity to fly up. Over time caps were replaced with the special boxes cages equipped with devices for emission of birds at the right time. In the middle of last century there was a firing at artificial targets which were thrown with the invented device by means of a lamellar spring on a distance to 32 meters. Targets – glass balls with a diameter of 6,35 centimeters were filled with smoke, dust or feathers that at hit in them gave to firing special effect. In 1880 at first in America, and then in Germany and France throwing machines and targets in the form of modern plateaus appeared.

Soon firing at plateaus quickly extended almost across all Europe. In Russia in the 1887th year in St. Petersburg, on the Krestovsky island, the first special stand for firing at pigeons was equipped. Wealthy people who were able to afford this rather expensive entertainment were fond of this type of firing. In the early nineties were already engaged in bench firing at plateaus in several big cities. Competitions were held at primitively equipped stands with use of simple throwing machines which first samples were brought from abroad. Throwing machines were installed on the boards strengthening on the earth by means of stakes. Targets were made on places of clay and sand. At the end of XIX and the beginning of the 20th centuries stands are equipped almost in all provincial Russian cities. Usually settled the small stand for the beginning shooters and big for the qualified athletes.
For the first time bench firing was included in the program II of the Olympic Games held in Paris in 1900. The rank of the champion was won by the representative of France Roger de Barbarin. The Russian stand shooter the first time participated in the Olympic Games in 1912. It was the V Olympic Games held in Stockholm. In an individual competition the representative of Russia H. Blau took the 3rd place, having broken 91 targets from 100. After inclusion in the program of the Olympic Games bench firing was widely adopted more. It was included into programs of the All-Russian Olympic Games, competitions were held by the Olympic rules. Targets plateaus were thrown out three machines, and the shooter did not know from what machine the target will be released.
After the October revolution in the country broad economic and cultural transformations began, the attention to development of sport was paid. Began to be engaged in bench firing in the early twenties. Permanent stands then were not yet and for carrying out firing practice and competitions figurative machines were used. Certain enthusiasts, as a rule, from among hunters were engaged in bench firing. Among them there were also representatives of Red Army.
